Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fiona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts that resided in Atlanta. She inherited her father's interest in the theatre at a young stage. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both at and off the campus. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter and his wife left their Air Force service in 1957 and enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. In 1960 the family moved from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a children's television program in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They financed the production by themselves. The Actors and Writers Workshop was created in the year 1964 and ran for 6 years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
